Tell us a Story Writing Competition: Our Winners
From St George to sea-monsters, medieval ghosts and buried treasure, England's history is filled with stories, myths and legends that help shape our understanding of our past and present.
We asked you to take inspiration from one of our historic sites this summer and create your own story in 500 words or less, for a chance to win some amazing prizes for you, your family and your school - and we're very pleased to announce that we have selected our winners.
Announcing our winners
We were very impressed with the wonderful stories we received and the judges enjoyed reading all of your entries. It was a difficult decision, but after a lot of deliberation, here are our lucky winners and their brilliant stories:
- Overall Competition Winner: Rupert Butler
- The Dragon and the Princess by Sophie Maguire
- The Lost Villagers of Craster by Isabel Butterfill
- Restormel Castle by Samuel Dakin
- Amidst the flames by Gil Oldham
All of these winners will recieve a bespoke illustration of their story designed by artist Clive Hicks-Jenkins, family membership for English Heritage for a year, and a Discovery Visit for their class, as well as some exciting English Heritage goodies handpicked by our retail team.
Overall winner Rupert Butler will also recieve a stay in one of our holiday cottages for him and his family.
We would like to congratulate all of our winners, and everyone who took part in the competition.
