Bushmead Priory is a complete and unusually well-preserved 13th-century refectory (dining hall). It’s the only remaining part of a small priory of Augustinian canons. Canons were priests who lived together like monks, and they ate together here in the priory.
Visit Bushmead priory and you can still see its fine original timber roof, fragments of medieval stained glass and traces of notable early 14th-century wall paintings.
You need to book ahead to visit Bushmead Priory. Book your ticket by contacting the Wrest Park reception team on 01525 860000 (Option 5) between 8.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday.
If you are an English Heritage Member, you still need to book, but your ticket will be free. Please bring your English Heritage membership card with you.
