Occasions – including civil wedding ceremonies – are hosted in the lovingly restored Tudor gatehouse, built by Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester as a grand entrance for Queen Elizabeth I when she visited in 1575. Aiming to impress, Dudley romanced his Queen for 19 days with pageantry, plays, hunting, music and dancing and also created a beautiful garden for the occasion.
