Address:
Castle View, Prudhoe, Northumberland, NE42 6NA
Prudhoe Castle occupies a naturally strong position guarding a vital crossing of the river Tyne.
You’ll witness Prudhoe’s great strength as you approach via the barbican, passing the picturesque mill pond and crossing the inner ditch to the formidable gatehouse.
On select tour dates, climb the steps to the atmospheric gatehouse chapel, explore the inner and outer baileys and look up at the towering keep. A fine ‘Regency Gothic’ mansion within the walls was built as a ‘gentleman’s residence’.
Hadrian’s Wall is a short drive away.
