St Augustine of Canterbury

DATE

Wed 7 May 2025

TIME

2pm - 3pm

LOCATION

St Augustine's Abbey

SUITABLE FOR

Adults

St Augustine was a Roman monk who became a somewhat reluctant missionary to England, before becoming the first Archbishop of Canterbury. In the words of one author he was 'the midwife in the birth of a new nation'. This talk will tell the story of Augustine by reference to the ruins of the great abbey which bears his name.

This event is graded as moderate access as it will require navigating uneven terrain.
